How I Work with Clients

Life can be overwhelming, and, at times, we act in ways that don’t feel like “us” or the way we want to be. Sometimes we get a different reaction than we expected. That can make a person feel pretty down on themselves, and unsure about what to do next.

My goal is to help reduce that confusion

People don’t always know what they want out of therapy, and that’s part of the process. Addressing the issues right in front of us is often the first step, but that often leads to much bigger goals, including finding the courage to tackle deeper issues.

My Background

  • Eric Pierson, PsyD
  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist
  • CA license # PSY 32151

I am a Clinical Psychologist licensed in California, with a Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology degree from Sofia University. Before going back to school, I spent ten years in Financial Services, primarily as a financial advisor. This gives me a unique blend of experience with a broad range of clients and circumstances, and I combine this with a broad range of clinical perspectives.

My Approach

With over ten years in the field of Clinical Psychology, and ten years in consultative sales and financial services, my approach has generally been centered around building relationships. The therapeutic relationship is where the magic happens, because it allows clients to face uncomfortable emotions, without having to feel alone.

I have also been practicing martial arts for over 30 years, including 20? years of Taoist internal arts, like tai chi and ba gua zhang, and I have over 20 years of training and a black belt in Togakure ryu ninjutsu..

All of these fields center around the same idea: managing relationships and managing conflict through de-escalation and communication. Those are the building blocks of my approach
